Newsletter June 2004

Dear All

I have finally got round to sending out my Newsletter – for those who were grinding their teeth in frustration at not receiving this wonderful missive, I am truly sorry! For those who did not miss it, I hope that it’s a nice surprise!

To start off, congratulations to the first buyers off my new website! I cannot mention names at this point as the picture is to be a surprise and I cannot give that away. Thank you for your support. The painting (Bee-eater Gold)  is below.

Rudo2-64x79cm/25.5x31inches unframed-USD500(excl.shipping)

Rudo 2
is the latest addition to my website. Rudo means love in Shona, and the young elephants in the painting are most likely cousins or siblings from the same breeding herd. Elephant are well known for their close-knit family groups and show a lot of love and tenderness towards one another.

 Solo Exhibition

As you may have heard, I had a solo exhibition hosted by Richard

Rennie Art Gallery in April. I am pleased to tell you that it went off

very well and about half the paintings were sold. We had the

Prince Edward School Jazz Band keeping us entertained, and the snacks and wine kept everyone warm. I was very pleased with the turnout and with the Gallery’s organisation. The jazz band are very talented and I would highly recommend them to anybody having a function.

Hwange Trip

One of the best things about being a wildlife artist is that you have the opportunity to go into the bush for.. ahem… research! Hwange was, and always will be special to me - and I was very happy to see that the game is still seemingly unaffected despite Zimbabwe’s predicament. There were virtually no tourists, and, being the size of Belgium, we had a massive piece of Africa almost to ourselves for a few days. I managed to take a lot of great photos of some of my favourite subjects: hornbills, elephants, rollers, zebra etc, as well as a few good shots of buffalo, wildebeest and other more difficult subjects. Full of inspiration and good feelings, I returned to Harare refreshed and ready to tackle the workload.

Well, that is all I have for now. I hope this finds you all well,

Regards
